PORTRAITS
During her life in Athens, Greece, Sanna's love for painting came to life, first appearing in the form of portraiture. People play an important role in her 'studies with the paintbrush'. The human species continues to fascinate her in many ways. Her main medium is acrylic paint on canvas, but she also enjoys creating mixed media pieces where she may e.g. sew or otherwise incorporate beads or gold leaf into acrylic and other pieces.

​NEOABORIGINAL WORK
Her Neo-Aboriginal work infuses a contemporary decorative style with the oldest unbroken tradition of art in the world - the ancient art of the Australian Aboriginal people. These pieces are predominantly made of refuse styrofoam as a base and decorated with ornamental drawings and recycled beads. The Neo-Aboriginal work bring together "the old and the new and the discarded."

​DON'T ASK DRAWINGS

Don't Ask is a collection of decorative and abstract paint marker on cardboard pieces.



​ECO-ART
Her eco-art pieces emerged from a need to use the excess materials born from painting portraits using acrylic paints. Frustrated with having to discard these vibrant colors as they dried on her palettes, she realized acrylic paint can be removed from plastic palettes once dried. She began to see forms and characters within these colourful plastic blobs and they began to form humorous stories of their own. #alsocaringfortheenvironment



​SA-LA-YU-JU (japan)
Sanna created a 15 metre collaborative piece with artist Lari Rantalainen, for the Finnish Japanese group exhibition at Shimane Art Museum, Matsue, Japan (30.7-4.8.2014). The Sa-La-Yu-Ju exhibition including two Japanese artists was relayed via the internet to Helsinki's media library Kirjasto 10 daily for the entire extent of the exhibition.
The piece was improvised with its outcome containing elements and symbols of Finnish folklore, spiritual elements, modern political figures and social commentary. The piece is entitled:  Untitled (For the Time Being), mixed media, 1 500 cm x 45 cm, 2014



​HEARTS PHOTOGRAPHIC DOCUMENTATION
Spotting random hearts created by the 'chaotic' nature of life and existence was a phenomena which started in Athens in 2010 and has been with Sanna ever since. She has had one solo exhibition of this documentation in Finland (Gallery Arla, Helsinki, 2013) and a group exhibition in Japan (Gallery Sora & Kuu, Tottori, 2013). The phenomena seems to be spreading, with people seeing and documenting random hearts across our globe. ​POSTER DESIGN

Sanna has designed posters for various exhibitions and events.


COLLABORATIVE TECHNIQUE - TRKCrew & Public Live Painting
A unique collaborative way of working saw its birth in 2012, via 5 member art collective TRKCrew in Helsinki, Finland. The technique is based on pure improvisation with the emphasis on social interaction rather than the work itself - nothing except the medium is pre-planned. TRKCrew has also facilitated live painting sessions for the general public (in city streets and squares). PIRJO & PURJO PRODUCTIONS refined what was discovered by TRKCrew into a technique named Kimppakuvitus.
Sanna facilitates workshops and live public painting sessions with the Kimppakuvitus technique.
She is a founding member of both TRKCrew and PIRJO & PURJO PRODUCTIONS.
